In the world of fashion, a staggering 1,800 gallons of water are required to grow the cotton in a single pair of jeans, and 400 gallons for a shirt. Fast fashion's relentless pace only worsens the problem, flooding our planet with discarded clothes and unsold items. . Countries all over the world (primarily the US and UK) dump their unsold and used clothing on Ghana, leaving mountains of waste on the beaches of a people that did not create this issue. Fast fashion is not only damaging our planet through sheer excess, but we offloaded 65 million pounds of unwanted clothing to Ghana in 2019 alone. 40% of that weight was unsellable and ended up in a landfill or the water. In fact, there is so much clothing in the water that fishing has become next to impossible. However, amidst this challenge, there's a hope. We've embraced a sustainable path, steering away from virgin materials. Our tote bags boast recycled canvas, and our yarn is meticulously crafted from repurposed textiles to end the surplus and encourage closed-loop fashion practices.
